Amit Krishna Dwivedi joined Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, as a Lecturer in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and he will teach Electronic Engineering related courses at Manchester-Met Hubei Joint Institute.

His research interests include biomedical signal processing, machine learning algorithms, and ultra-low-power wearable systems for long-term continuous monitoring of physiological signals for early-stage detection of various cardiovascular diseases. His current focus is on developing wearable devices for the long-term monitoring of physiological signals. He is the author or co-author of more than 30 research papers in reputed journals, international conferences, and book chapters.

Dr Dwivedi received B.Tech. Degree and the Master (M.E.) degree, both in Electronics Engineering, from India, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Wearable Technologies Lab at Imperial College London, United Kingdom. His PhD was focused on automatic analysis and classification of cardiac acoustic signals for long-term monitoring. He developed approaches for automatic analysis and real-time classification of cardiac abnormalities using heart sounds acquired in real-life conditions that can be potentially used in ultra-low-power wearable systems for long-term monitoring of physiological signals. Following his work at Imperial, he worked as a researcher at the Diagnostic Imaging Center, Kuopio University Hospital, and the University of Eastern Finland, in Finland.

Dr. Dwivedi has received several awards including the Certificate of Academic Excellence and the Certificate of Merit for his top academic performances, and scholarships such as Imperial College President’s PhD Scholarship and GATE scholarship from AICTE, Government of India. He secured the first position during his B.Tech degree and also stood first among the list of students in his specialization during his ME degree.

Previously, he has worked as a Vice-chair (advisor) of the IEEE Student Branch at Imperial College, and as a Student Ambassador for the Summer Schools and Winter Schools for international students, organized by the Continuing Professional Development Department, Imperial College London, UK. Additionally, during his years as a Ph.D. Student at Imperial, he was a key part of the President’s PhD scholars committee working as a Representative for four years. From 2019 to 2020, he worked as a Student Programme leader for the Research Communication Programme organized by the Imperial College Graduate School.
